Movie Session

Screening of the film-diary "Memória Viva" by Joana Maria Sousa at the Center for Contemporary Culture 13

10.06.2026

On Portugal Day, the Center for Contemporary Culture was packed with visitors for the screening of the film Memória Viva, followed by a small festival.

The event began with the presentation of the Cooperative's new governing bodies, followed by a screening of "Memória Viva" (Living Memory) by Joana Maria Sousa. This film-diary stems from the absence of the filmmaker's grandparents and her attempt to recover, with a senior community, the conversations, memories, and affections she never experienced. Alongside the screening, photographs from the project were also on display in the gallery.

"Memória Viva" was supported by the Torres Vedras City Council and the Casa do Povo da Freiria, and the Cooperative was delighted to host its screening at the Centro de Cultura Contemporânea 13 gallery.

Two doors down, at the Centro de Cultura Contemporânea 9, a small festival celebrating Portugal Day took place, providing a pleasant end to the afternoon for visitors. In an atmosphere of conviviality and celebration, the initiative reinforced the Cooperative's commitment to promoting art, culture, and the appreciation of cultural heritage.
