O Gozo

Nuno Vasa
03.11.2007 — 01.12.2007

“O Gozo” (2007), the work that serves as the starting point for these words, reveals once again the tense relationship established between subject and image. From this set of twenty-four images (a clear approximation by the author to the very mechanism of the cinematic medium and its twenty-four frames per second) there is a common denominator: the painful impossibility of automatically accessing a direct discourse. This installation is, therefore, on the margins of impossibility. Indeed, like many media images, this work by Vasa exists as possible matter, but produces an inevitable sensation of the impossible and unattainable.

The images of “O Gozo” speak for themselves and will certainly awaken the most disparate sensations in the viewer. However, and at the risk of affecting the “pleasure” of each individual, the creator himself warns: “Some of these images are extremely shocking and likely to offend sensibilities.”
