One observes José Mouga’s painting and doesn’t immediately find the way to talk about what one observes. Each painting is an invasive surface. It asserts itself in its two-dimensionality and simultaneously seems to advance. The lines and stains exert their fascination with an effectiveness that increases with their elementariness. A kind of false naiveté completely envelops his simulacra. The visual immediacy is complete in itself. (…)
