H

"H" is a photographic work about time, absence, and memory. An intimate discourse dedicated to the memory of my mother, an incursion into the inner space of loss and the purpose of constructing a place of rescue and transcendence.

In revisiting this past, I construct a present of written records, the first modus operandi of this process, which ends up accompanying the duration of the work. Confronted with the passage of time on my memory, I find the very matter of my mother's memory—photographs, letters, and personal objects that she preciously preserved and that I kept as a true sensitive inheritance.

It is on this matter that I focus, in a desire to approach, to know, to give body and voice.

The documentary filmmaker Catarina Rodrigues became interested in this project and recorded moments of the journey on video. The result is a video installation that is presented simultaneously with the photographic work.
