Dias Úteis
Catarina BotelhoCatarina Botelho (Lisbon, 1981) presents in this solo exhibition three series of works brought together under the title "Working Days".
In the untitled series ("Working Days"), her images represent people who appear alone, within a space where they participate in tasks as common as sleeping, bathing, reading, preparing a meal, or smoking. The author is an integral part of this situation; she is there. But between photographer and subject, the gaze cannot be present, as it disturbs, invades.
There is no gaze directed at the other; at that moment they are only one, sharing an action.
Nothing here is constructed, it does not document or portray; the people simply are.
(...) It is in this dialogue between silence and life, (...) In the fact that the objects are there as memory, making reference to the people, the houses, and the experiences that have transformed them. Images that remind us of days of sharing and daily coexistence – Working Days.
