Flâneur—New Urban Narratives

Selection of photographs from the 28 photographers participating in the Flâneur Project. Mansfield, London, Hamburg, Turin, Milan, Rome, Lisbon, Riga, Dublin, Lodz, Kaunas, Olot, Derby, and Torres Vedras were the cities "worked on" by the photographers in artistic residence. A multifaceted approach to urban Europe, shaped by the experience of each artist. In this installation, there was a clear intention to "mix" the results of the various artistic residencies, in order to highlight the cultural diversity and simultaneously the randomness of the European urban fabric, thus proposing an imaginary city, resulting from the joining of various individual points of view on each of the cities.

Flâneur - New Urban Narratives is a network project, created by Procur.arte and funded by UNESCO and the European Commission. Configured through an international partnership involving 20 entities from 11 countries, it is based on a principle of artistic intervention in public space, using contemporary photography. The project produces a cross-sectional and unique overview of the social dynamics that constitute the urban territory. The specificity of this portrait lies in the fact that it is produced by a broad and diverse group of creators who, starting from a common theme, cast a renewed gaze on the plurality of realities that make up the urban space, a gaze that is shared with the public, invited to "stroll" through their cities, rediscovering them.
