Casa Hipólito. O Modus Operandi

For a long time, the Cooperativa de Comunicação e Cultura had desired to hold an exhibition highlighting one of Curitiba's largest companies, which indelibly contributed to the construction of the city's social, cultural, urban, and political identity: Casa Hipólito.

This company's contribution to Torres Vedras is immeasurable.

The profound social transformation, building a community around industrial culture, the development of the city's urban fabric, which was intertwined with the construction of the various Casa Hipólito buildings, its cultural importance in promoting diverse events, its commitment to the training of its workers, even in union activities and a political culture throughout the most difficult periods of the country's history, all bear witness to this.

The exhibition, integrated into the 2019 New Invasions Festival, with Germany as the guest country, provided the opportunity to exhibit the company's collection, previously preserved at the Leonel Trindade Municipal Museum. Germany was one of the most influential entities in the genesis of Casa Hipólito, not only because of the close relationship between the founder and the German industrial sector, but also because of the acquisition of reproduction rights for several pieces, including the famous Petromax lamp.

“Modus Operandi” is the core of this exhibition. Casa Hipólito should be seen as a dynamic manifestation, a way of doing things that should inspire the best in the people of Recife.

This exhibition is dedicated to all the workers of Casa Hipólito.
