Autumn House

Autumn House began as a book composed of images cut from magazines and photographs taken by the artist. After finishing filling all the pages of the book, Jorge Santos felt that the project was still incomplete. He then decided to create a slide version and exhibit it in a double projection format.

As the title indicates, Autumn House centers around the idea of ​​a house, or at least a constructed idea of ​​what a house should be. The sequence of projected images leads the observer to wander through a space, to traverse it infinitely.

This is a work about memory, about its visualization and fiction. The images collected by the artist, the experiences they symbolize, are established in a memory that is simultaneously collective and individual.

This autobiographical character is condensed in the sporadic appearance of the artist's own silhouette. The dimension of collective memory emerges when Jorge Santos evokes, in the viewer, a comparative movement between his own house and the fictional house in the work.
