Aqui Existe Uma Alma…

The existence of two worlds—one visible, material, and tangible, and the other invisible, immaterial, and intangible—that complement each other and reveal a perennial essence, has been the subject of study in philosophy and theology and an unquestionable mystery of life.

Photography is an instrument for recording memory. Although it evokes readings of reality, here they are existentialist in nature, suggesting a discussion about our relationship with the world and inviting a poetic encounter with the infinitude of time and the transience of things.

The set of images, where the absence of the body is revealed, alludes to an overflowing void, because it appeals to our imagination and is susceptible to intimate narratives where the sublime also manifests itself.

In the other series, where the face is hidden but the body is revealed, there is an instrumentalization of identity that serves the purpose of expressing the relationship of the self with the immediate (here and now). It is assumed as proof of existence but acquires a symbolic dimension of dialectical complicity. Because it fosters a philosophical dialogue with the other group.

Rosário Tavares promotes reflection on what dwells within us, what is inscribed in the essence of each one: what is invisible to the eye is felt by the heart. The experience of beauty is also like that.
