À Mão e À Máquina

Adriana Freire
17.06.2006 — 14.07.2006

The Stitching of Time. Is Adriana Freire a technopop artist?

Everything suggests so. Her fascination with machines and digital technology, on the one hand, and the systematic recovery of popular iconography, on the other, combine in this designation.

The book's title, *By Hand and by Machine*, also alludes to the tension of this artist divided between more techno-plastic and more pop-oriented forms. Excerpt from Paulo Cunha e Silva

The Exhibition

Multipurpose Room: On the opening day, a sardine barbecue and drinks. A party in the middle of a clothesline with music and ambient sounds. Nothing special except for those present. I record the moment and exhibit it the following day, for about a month.

Imaginary Museum: In the first room there is a photograph on display, of a clothesline. In the last room there is a video projection of clothes drying in the wind, a choreography where the body is absent, in the bodysuit.

Showcase: A Portuguese House. Adriana Freire.
